Fire and First Aid Policy

· Fire drills will be carried out once every six months or as required. This is recorded. 

We will endavour to check the fire alarms more frequently (weekly). 

· Fire safety equipment is checked annually by an outside company and arranged by school. 

· All staff are aware of fire evacuation procedures and assembly points. 

· Fire exits must be always kept clear. 

· A fire blanket is located in the kitchen. 

· Daily, monthly, and weekly checks of emergency lights, fire call points and fire extinguishers are made and recorded in the Fire Recording file. 

· Fire risk assessment is carried out under the Fire Safety Regulations  

· First Aid facilities are provided with at least one member of staff having undergone training. 

· Staff must wear disposable gloves when dealing with an accident or changing a child. 

· Accidents must be recorded in the accident book. The child’s parent/carer will be asked to sign the accident book after the incident has been explained to them. 

· All staff are encouraged to update their first aid qualifications and knowledge regularly. Where possible Wakitu Kids Out-of-School Clubs will provide this on a group basis.
