What a day at Wakitu looks like…

Morning Sessions

The morning session will begin at 7:15 am and run until the children start their school day. The children will be greeted by our Wakitu Practitioners who will be ready and waiting with different daily activities for children to enjoy.

The children will always have a range of activities to engage in that will be our free-flowing play opportunities. These will include activities such as,

  • Lego

  • Play-dough

  • Roleplay

  • Games

  • Small world activities

  • Tablets

  • Gaming consoles

  • Books and reading sessions

..and much more.

There will be a different creative activity on offer every day that the children will help influence depending on their interests.

Breakfast will be offered every morning between 7.45-8.30. This will be a nutritional meal inclusive for all children.

We will encourage each child to be part of breakfast,

  • Serving

  • Clearing

  • Learning table manners

  • Eating together

  • The encouragement of language.

After breakfast, all children will be encouraged to participate in a small mindfulness session. This will include stories, games, circle times, affirmations, breathing exercises, and more.

We aim to give the children in our care a great start to their day and deliver them to their classrooms with a spring in their steps.

Afternoon Sessions

The afternoon session will begin as soon as children finish their school day and are; either collected by Wakitu practitioners or dropped off by school staff. The session will end at 5.45 pm.

Children will join the session and be immersed in free, child-led play.

Similar to the morning session, the afternoon will include all the same continuous play activities. With an added planned creative activity planned that will be planned around the children’s interests and led by a Wakitu practitioner.

Activities such as:

  • Different material paining (glass, stones etc)

  • Hammer beads

  • Painting

  • Art sessions

  • Sewing/knitting

  • Construction projects

  • Planting/ growing

  • Tie dye

  • Marbling

….and so much more

The children will eat a light evening meal with us. This will again reflect a lot of the same as the morning session where the children are asked to join in mealtimes by:

  • Serving each other

  • Helping to clear

  • Learning table manners

  • Socializing and promoting language and communication

  • Knowledge of healthy eating

We will then finish the session on our daily themed activities. For the last hour of each day, children will participate in a planned session.

Our daily themes:

  • Movement Mondays

Let’s start the week with some physical movement. Whether it be dance, yoga, football, group games it will be so much fun.

  • Make-do-Tue(sdays)

Children will be encouraged to unleash their inner artist and make something super

  • Winner, winner Wednesdays

It’s taking part that counts. Let’s play some fun games together

  • Therapeutic Thursday’s

We want each child to have a nice relaxing day! This could be a yoga session, Pilates, maybe its artwork, or some physical activities. The children will lead these planned sessions

  • Fun Fridays

Let’s end the week with InStyle. Popcorn, films, karaoke, discos. Whatever the kids consider fun let's do it on fun Friday.

We aim to send your children home having finished each day off the best way possible.
